What is the Bill Number and Where Can I Find It?
Each electricity bill is generated monthly for every consumer. The Bill Number is a unique identification number assigned by the online billing system. It usually starts with digits from your account number and is printed at the top center of the bill.
What is the SBM Bill Number and Where Can I Find It?
SBM stands for Spot Billing Machine — a handheld computer used by meter readers to generate bills on-site immediately after reading your meter. If your bill was generated using SBM, it will have a unique SBM Bill Number, which is different from the online bill number. This number is printed at the top of SBM-generated bills only and is assigned directly by the machine.
What is the Account Number and Where Can I Find It?
The Account Number is a unique consumer identification number stored in the UPPCL database. Earlier, consumer details were linked to manually assigned Service Connection Numbers, which sometimes caused duplication. Now, account numbers are system-generated 10 digits number
You can find your account number at the top of your bill, labeled as Account Number or ID.
⚠️ Important Note
In Uttar Pradesh, there are five DISCOMs (Distribution Companies) operating under UPPCL. The uniqueness of the Account ID is maintained only within each DISCOM, not across all of them. This means that the same Account ID can exist in another DISCOM.
So, while making online electricity bill payments, always ensure that you select the correct District or DISCOM to avoid paying another consumer’s bill by mistake.
